Optometry assistant

LOPTICIEN.CAis looking for a versatile, dynamic and motivated individual to join its team as an optometry assistant, with a keen interest in customer service… and a flair for marketing! As an assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring that all our patients enjoy an outstanding customer service experience, right from the moment they arrive at the clinic. You will also work closely with our team of eye care professionals, who will rely on you to support patients throughout the clinic, in an atmosphere of trust and friendliness where staff are encouraged to develop at their own pace.

Tasks and responsabilities:

  • Welcome customers courteously
  • Carry out preliminary tests prior to eye examinations
  • Book appointments for optometrists, and send out reminders and confirmations
  • Open and update patient records
  • Assess and identify patients’ needs regarding the choice of frames and prescription lenses based on their prescription
  • Determine the specifications for spectacles or contact lenses based on a prescription
  • Examine patients’ spectacles or contact lenses using optical instruments
  • Cut and assemble spectacles
  • Promote the various services offered by LOPTICIEN.CA to customers
  • Take part in simple marketing and local visibility initiatives at the clinic (a real bonus for those who enjoy communication!)
  • Process billing (private patients and RAMQ) in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Carry out the opening and closing of the till
  • Work collaboratively with the clinic team
  • Any other tasks necessary for the smooth running of the clinic

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience in optics (an advantage)
  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Good knowledge of and ability to use a computer and IT systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Clear and professional communication in French and English (an advantage)
  • Interest in marketing, communications or content creation (an asset)
  • Positive, empathetic and proactive attitude
  • A people-centred approach focused on patients’ wellbeing
  • Discretion and professionalism
  • Team player
